Softail Slim Part 90200389 Installation
 

Hello,

I recently picked up a 2016 Softail Slim S. I was able to find a set of hardly used HD saddlebags and a hardly Forge 24” sissy bar, so I bought 90200389 in order to have quick detach functionality for both. I’m not going to relocate the license plate and tail lights until the winter, but I would like to install the four bolts below the pillion with the pieces in the correct order so my girlfriend can use the sissy bar for the rest of this season.

Does anyone have a picture of what those mount points look like on the bike? I keep staring at the diagram, but it just isn’t making sense to me.

Saddlebag mounts.
 

Here is my 2017 FLSS.
If you have the kit that allows for the sissy bar attachment with the saddlebags like I do, would would discard the large black spacers and replace them with the sissy bar mounts without the bolts (you already have the longer bolts in the kit). The spacers are just in case you don't want to add the sissy bar mounts.

Here are the extra docking points you need:

Front Docking Point 53683-96 x2

Rear Docking Point 53684-96A x2

These parts are from kit 53932-03A which you can buy separate from the dealer. You save a couple bucks because you don't need the bolts. They are too short anyways.

Picked up the parts on the way home and here’s the finished product. The parts guy was very helpful (as usual) and was going to sell me just the docking points but when he rang them up, they were a whopping 11 cents cheaper than buying the entire kit. Go figure. Now I just need to get the mini apes or apes installed to offset the look of that 24” bar, but at least it will only be on when the girlfriend rides with me. ;-) Once again, I really appreciate your help donhoe!
