Default Fayboys

I had my painted tins from my 14 fatboylow put on to my 17 fatboys. I need to remove my front fender to take in to get my paint matched. How do i do this? Do i need to remove the tire? Never done this before and want to start learning.

Welcome to the forum from central Texas.

You will find the same advice to anyone that asks how to work on their bike themselves. That is to buy a Harley Davidson Factory Service Manual for your year and model bike. It explains, in detail, how to do everything on your bike. You could also search the internet for (YouTube) videos.

Good luck.

It is some solid advice for sure. You can probably remove the fender without removing the wheel, but it could be tight with a fat boy solid rim. I have a fat tire kit on my Roadglide and because of the design, you always have to remove the wheel to remove the fender ( but this is in the design). The best thing you can do is get a service manual and there’s a ton of info on YouTube. Some people get law abiding Biker subscriptions as well because they have a ton of content. I don’t because there’s enough free content out there and I can’t stand the guys personality. Removing wheels and parts are generally standard across similar front end setups.

Here's some advice, Biff. You're the new kid on the block. There are many regulars on this forum and we are the ones that offer up the help. If you want to come across as an *******, and keep that reputation, you'll find yourself ignored when you want some advice.

If you had the service manual you wouldn't be wasting your time searching for YouTube videos or asking on a public forum how to take a fender off. It would be off already. I'm sure I don't need to tell you what you can do with your arrogance.

You will need to remove the tank, forks, handlebars, headlight, tire, and then you should be good to ****** the fender off your Fayboy. Dress warm and get to work.

to be fair, even with a service manual, YouTube is an invaluable resource.

I made mention of YouTube videos in my initial post.

You’ll have more guys take the time to give you ****, than just give you a quick answer. I have a 2001 Fatboy - just remove the four bolts securing fender to forks. Mine did not have much clearance, so be careful reinstalling with fresh paint - lay a clean rag over fender when sliding it back between forks so you don’t scratch paint.
