Twin 88 Temps
Hi guys
Just a point of information that I know you guys have. my ride is a 2000 FLSTC w/37,000k miles, basically stock except for dealer installed big bore kit and S&S Stealth air, tensioner upgrade with oil pump upgrade and new stock cams. V&H slip-ons and Love Jugs blowers. I run Lucas regular oil simply because the original owner used it. My question.....what is a good oil temp to be running at the oil bag dipstick? I know it will vary with ambient air temps. Just looking for a feel for what it should run at. Thanks guys you always give me great help |

185 is too cold. Probably not up to operating temp yet? Ideally you want oil temps to reach 220ish. At least 210. Otherwise you're not burning the condensation out and it accumulates. Not good.

butt..recently bought a Harley* branded temp dipstick Stock '04 TC88 Hottest days I've been out since were mid 90s and just bee-bopin' around local I've never seen mine over 230. and typically in the 210-220 range 20-50 dino oil *Harley brand, guess what? I have to look thru condensation to read the dial :icon_goofygrin: reckon I'm fortunate though, 'cause speedo and gas gauge doesn't suffer like so many I hear about. ..L.T.A. |
My Deluxe feels hot when stopped and cool when riding. Hope this helps.
