Default Buckhorn Handlebars for 07 FXSTC

I have an 07 FXSTC. Some of the 1998 softail customs had what was called a buckhorn style handlbar. I would like to get the old style for my bike. The ones in the HD Catalogue 56081-82A have a knurl center to center of 3.14. My bike has a 3.5.

Has anyone installed buckhorn bars to their 07 FXSTC? If so, I would be very interested in knowing what bars they used and if was it necessary to change any of the cables.

Thanks for the info on JP Cycles. I called them today and with the tech guy's help ordered a new set of buckhorns. I hope they look as good as the ones on your bike.

Gary,
Can you let me know what the part number is for the bars? I would be very interested in any bars that will put my hands back a bit more and don't look like crap while doing it. Do you know if your going to have to change the lines or wires for it?
Maybe you could take a pic of the before and after with the bike in front of something that will show the difference.
Thanks
Frank

I would like to see some pics also. I talked about it at the local shop and I was told I shouldn't do it. Why??? He never really answered that question. The only reason I didn't do it is the money, I have a couple other projects for the bike first.

Sounds like somebody had a really bad brain fart to me. If the NT has short drag bars, and the Custom has the mini apes, how in the hell is a set of the buckhorns they put on EVO Softail Customs, FXWG's and a couple of other bikes for nearly twenty years gonna be a "bad" thing on an 07 Custom?

The part number I ordered from JP Cycles is 5000827. Here is the web site: http://www.jpcycles.com/catalog/2007...talog/0832.asp. The people at JP are really good to deal with.
According to the traking info the buckhorns will be delivered Friday. I alwasy like getting home from work, but when there is something new for the bike, its even better. Hope to put them on Saturday. It should be pretty simple, but you all know how some simple jobs can turn into a real project. I'll give you the details on the cables, etc.

I will take some pictures and post them for you.

Regards,
Gary
