Franklin Mint Replica 1:10 Model?

Was goofing online searching for different junk to buy (to crappy outside to ride) and came across the Franklin Mint series of HD replica/model. Has anyone purchased a Franklin Mint replica/model? The darn thing is $135 and it doesn't say what it's made from. It looks dang good, though. It appears to be an exact replica of my bike ... and they've got lots of other models as well.

They only mean anything just to you. When my dad was alive I used to buy him one every year of different cars that he liked. He restored cars from the 50's era and heavily involved into car clubs. He liked the FM cars and bought a case that held them. They re good quality. Die casted but have all the moving parts. It's just for you though. I doubt that they would increase in value or anything like that.

I have quite a bit of Franklin Mint stuff including a bike like you posted in a POSE. I don't know ifmy collectionhas any collector value or not, but I like it and it has value to me and to the Grandkids with will some day have it. My 3 year old Grandson can aready tell you which pieces have been promised to him by Papa.

Thanks guys ... I'm not one of those folks who thinks his bike is an investment that will climb in value, and I don't collect junk about my bikes because I expect a postive return on investment. My interest is exclusively about how good this product looks and what kind of quality can I expect from this company.

I've seen lots of stuff from the Franklin Mint but never bought anything from them. I want something that I can set on a shelf or on my desk that will represent my bike, and the pictures they have on their web site look great. If the actual quality is half as good as the picture then I'd say it's worth $100 or more for my personal gratification. But before I plunk down the money I wanted to hear from folks who have actually purchased their products and can comment on the quality that I should expect.

I've a few Franklin Mint Harley's. As others have said, they are good quality metal made. They are not cheaply made, like the OCC/WCC/Ness type models.

There won't be any comparison between a Franklin Mint and anybody else.
FM is by far the best.

You will like it.
But like you, I would only buy it for my own personal satisfaction not to make any money.

I have lots of diecast cars (25) of cars I've actually owned.
They are for me. I even threw away the boxes because I'll never sell them.
It gives me lots of pleasure just to look at them once and a while.
They are from all different manufactures but the FM (I have one) is by far the best and most actuate.
Buy it.

I'll probably buy a FM Fat Boy pretty soon.

Franklin Mint is quality stuff, and if any of the collectables will ever be worth anything, the Franklin Mint stuff will be because of the quality.

Frankin Mint has some great stuff. Look around on ebay for a better price, I am sure you can find that model at a cheaper price.

At our house, it would end up like everything else we collect. Even if it appreciates in value, we'd never sell it. My wife has some of the Department 56 snow village pieces and some are worth several thousand dollars. But, we'd never sell it. One of these days, it will probably make our great grandkids rich.

I have a FM 68 Shelby Mustang that is just awesome.
If the bikes are like the cars, it is really a beautiful piece.
An investment?
Probably not but its sure great to look at.

If you wantthe value increase, FM bikes are not for you. If you like the beauty of Harley design at a scale, maybe FM isthe best you can find.

I havea 1:10RoadKing sit on my desk in office and a 1:1RoadKing parking downstairs. Everytime Ilook at thescale-down,memories (good or bad) I had togetherwith my ride came back. It also helps to visulize whatI will do next on my bike. FM is really true to all its details. Shocks, engine details, wires, frame, paint and rim-tires are beutifully done. I think I will buy a FM 1:10Duo-glide to accompany my road king one day.

I have some Franklin Mint Harleys, They are very nice. But they are very fragile. If you buy one say from eBay and it is not pacaged good in the right container, something will break off. Such as plastic clutch levers, bars, ects. Im hoping some other company will come out with the softail deluxe modle that is cheaper and to me the cheaper modles I do have are more strudy than the F.M. [8D].

I have one of the earlier Heritage FM models . Made the mistake of leaving it rest on the kickstand . Would you believe the model was heavy enough that it bent the kickstand and broke it ....... Might want to use something else to hold it up if you happen to buy one . Just my .02 ! :D

Check out the ffertl site. They have some 1/12 Harley models that look good on screen for about $75. I do not own one but would get the deluxe if anyone knows if they are any good.

the franklin mint bikes are about the best repros i have seen. i do not buy any thing because i am looking to make money i collect what i like and what to have around. i own quite a few of the bikes and if you have a nice cabinet with glass they make a sweet display.they just came out with the deluxe model about six months ago and i was lucky that the one they picked to reproduce was the black and white version which was what harley used in most of there advertising meterial back in 05.

Franklin Mint replicas are the best as far as I'm concerned. I have an older Heritage Classic replica that my wife bought me when we were first married. I was riding a Iron Head Roadster at the time but I've loved the heritage ever since. Finally bought a real one last year.

They're very good quality; rubber, metal, and hold up very well. I've packed it up in the original packaging many times........ We've moved 8 times in the past 18 years. It still looks like new.
