Default Stuck fuel sending unit?

I think I have a stuck float in the sending unit. 05 Fatboy Injected.

I read the fix for it but is there any way to knock it loose without tearing the whole thing apart?

Been using the odometer for fuel stops.

Thanks MikeM

My fuel gauge works, but I don't pay any attention to it. I use the odometer, to judge when to fuel up.
Tom.

I'm teaching myself to ignor the fuel gauge on my '08. I assume my day is coming with the same issue.

I almost wish there was a clean way to remove it completly and cap-off the resultant hole. I don't know (yet) whether the float feeds the low-fuel idiot light (also useless) and the '08 version of remaining miles to go which is a button select past the two trip odometers.

If I knew for sure that the float doesn't feed all these other displays, I'd be on a path to remove the analog fuel gauge. I'm still waiting on my '08 service manuals (including the electrical & suppliment) to help answer for myself.

Some folks claim that occasionally the gauge will work itself free again. Which is also saying that it will occasionally get stuck again. You only real choice is to tear into it and do the documented bends and sandingto acheive a more permanent fix.

Good luck.

Since I put the T-max on, I lost my low fuel light and my remaining miles to go feature. I look at the fuel gauge just to make sure it's working, but I don't rely on it. I try to fill up every hundred miles. My first bike was a '01 Sportster, which had no fuel gauge and no low fuel light since it was carb'd. So using the odometer isn't new to me. And it also seems to be the most reliable method. However, I'd still like the other features to work properly just so I know everything on the bike is right.

I fixed mine about a year ago now. 2003 NT.Still working fine.I replaced the orig. fuel gauge with a Kuryakyn: http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp...ey&ci=2696

The gauge has been very accurate....but I stillrely on mileage for when to stop for gas.
