V&H baffles

I just bought and installed V&H Staggered big shots with the factory silencer that sells for $29.99. They are still louder than I want. I've been reading on this forum about Big Shot Quiet baffles that sell for 69.90 at Dennis Kirk and 24.99 at Cycle spot. They come with a fiberglass wrap. Are these the same as the VH silencer? If so, is there a quieter baffle for these pipes"? Thanks.

RE: V&H baffles

I have a set of V&H BSS's on my Heritage and they came with a set of stock baffles that look different than the quite baffles even without the fiberglass wrap. The quite baffles will definately tone the noise down and even give it a deeper rumble.

A word to the wise though, make sure you wrap the fiberglass nice and tight around the baffle with either celeophane tape or small wire. This will make it a lot easier to slide the baffles in without the fiberglass bunching up. I've read that using the small wire will also help if you want to remove the baffles if you do not like the way they sound. Hope this helps ya out. ;)

I haveBig Shot Staggerdsand installed V&h quiet baffles (fiberglass wrapped)($25.99 ea. online, retail 29.99)and it sounds much better, took the loud tinny idle noise out but still fairly loud on accell. Got lower end torque back with baffles also. :)

RE: V&H baffles

I put my quiet baffles in during the pipes install so I never heard the regular baffles. I've heard the quiet baffles are only like 3db quieter(so to speak). The tone is great though. I could actually go a little louder and want to check out the Thunder Monster Baffles. They are supposed to be good too.

3db is 50% less or 100% more depending on what direction you count. I had a sportster with the V&H slipons and the quiet baffles added more torque and gave less popping and a deeper rumble.

the baffles that come with the pipes are open on the end the quite baffles are closed at the end this alone would make some difference I am running them on my deluxe and i like them. seem to be mellow enough to stay out of trouble when you want them to be but when i get on it they perk right up

Hey everyone,

If you go to the quiet baffles from standard, your fuelpack will need the new settings or you will be way lean...Forgot mine around for a day of riding...
