Did the fuel guage float get stuck inside your gastank?

This is not a poll to see if the guage is accurate :eek:...
only if the float got stuck and fuel guage "needle" didn't move.

one time bike was new, dealer fixed.
Another time, bike was new... fixed itself on a pothole and I found out I was out of gas.
Been an odometer guy ever since.

Bought my bike used in May. Float is still stuck. I have shook it, banged it, cussed at it and its still stuck. Ill be damned if I am going to tear the thing apart for that. I just use my trip meter. Anyone got a secret fix other than tear down?

my gauge goes all the way to the full position and stays there indefinitely. any suggestions on how to permanently fix this (maybe an aftermarket part or somethin) would be very appreciated.

There is a thread on Fuel Pump and Filter maintenance you can also check and adjust your fuel float during the process.

You could also try a fuel stabilizer like Lucas fuel treatment. Modern fuel is pretty crappy and gets worse every day. Fuel doesn't hold like the old days it just starts to gum up.

Seven years and mine has never stuck. When I took it out when the bike was painted, it still looked new.

Follow the link, pull the whole deal apart and clip the little thingy on the end. Im not pulling it all apart, for a fuel gage that I dont need.
