Battery Cover

New Year Greetings to all,

I've got an '06 Springer Classic that I am in the process of installing an old "tractor style" pogo solo seat which sits several inches above the softail's battery. Some of the other members who have undertaken similar conversions have made their own covers out of a variety of materials but I am wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to purchase an aftermarket cover that would clean up the lines of the area left exposed by raising the seat?

Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Battery Cover

Im looking at doing the same thing. I saw one in a J&P Cycles catalog that would work. or go to www.jpcycles.com.

RE: Battery Cover

Badboy,

Thanks for the reply - Some of the ones in the JP Catalog are for the actual older models that had the pogo fit down into the frame. The newer frames don't allow that so new seat adapters must be bolted to the frame and I'm not sure the cover will fit the newer models - at least I didn't see it in their catalog.

I'll keep looking and let you know if I find anything.

Badboy,

Check out http://www.vtwinmfg.com/Catalog1/VTwinCatalogIndex1.htmand look under multi-fit and then under solo seats. It looks like their part number #42-0942 is what I (we) am/are looking for. It says 2000 and up.

RE: Battery Cover

Hey there! I purchased the battery cover and returned it to them. I believe it works with Spring Solo Seat mounts, not Pogo Style. Not absolute, but I tried it with my bike and it would not work without modifications. Call them before to make sure. I'm currently using leather and velcro an dig the way it looks (fits old school look!!) Good Luck!!

It is a beautifule bike. That is what I am going for with my '05 FLSTSC. Do you have any more pics to share?

Hey mgb_brat,

I've got a softail springer myself and I'm doing the same thing with vinyl. Only thing is there are so many curves and extensions and when I lay it down it looks a bit lumpy with the battery and fuse box sticking up. Also not sure how to properly go around the pogo seat hydraulic.

Do you have any pics of your leather solution?

Thanks!
