Lowering Pre 89' Softail
I've got an 87' Heritage Softail that I am about to lower. I know the shocks are different than the post 89's. Do they 87's shocks have to be pressed and disassembled the same way, or is it a different process? I tried a search, but couldnt find anything for the pre 89's...

RE: Lowering Pre 89' Softail
Yes, its very easy. You have to press the shock and pull the c-clip and pull apart the shock. Bolt the new adjustable shaft it and press and install the clip. Once out of the bike takes 10 minutes. Its the same procedure as the new shocks, just a threaded nut and bolt adjustment. Remember, you need a special tool that offsets the shock bolts so you can torque them. Good-luck

The directions that came with the kit make no mention of doing any pressing of any kind, or any clips? |
