No horn, what to do?

My bike does not have a horn, whoever built it did not put one on. No wireing or anything. I need to get a safty inspection. Any ideas on what to do? How hard is it to install a horn? I just think the wireing would suck to do. Because i would have to run all of it. Any ideas????

RE: No horn, what to do?

True story here...friend of mine moved to Ohio from out of state, and has a custom built, no horn...she had to get it inspected, so she bought a small cannister horn, one of those compressed air or gas things, about the size of a can of shaving cream...tie strapped it to the handlebars...the inspector laughed and shook his head, but it was legal...course she dumped the thing later, but..the bike passed...

I would bet you could get one of those bugle type bicycle horns and get away with it. :D

You might want to check a bicycle shop, I googled and found the one below for $25 and its a 105db running off a 9v battery. If you didn't care about a horn and only want to pass the inspection, something like this might be easier than rewiring the bike and you can take it off after the test.

Megahorn Bike Horn 105 db

This is a battery powered horn that operates on a 9V battery. Once you hear it, you will realize why it is used by many Police departments, Security Units, and other cyclists who need to be heard for safety and security purposes. It can cut through outside noise and will make you be noticed.
The horn has two tones that rapidly bounce from one to the other creating a tone that is definitely noticed. The mega horn very easily mounts to the handlebars and is activated by a push button on your grip. The Lightweight and weather resistant unit easily penetrates traffic noise with 105 db at 1 yard.

Yes you are going to need a horn to pass inspection. Most states require one. I would lookin to seeing if you mounting a air horn like the girl did will pass for your state.

Or you could go the cheapest route and scream really loud!!!! J/K
You probably have done that already by yelling at the dip sticks that pull out in front of you.
