Default 2007 fatboy swingarm to use on 2005 fatboy

Has anyone tried or checked to see if the new 2007 and 2008 fatboy swingarms can be mounted to a 2005 fatboy. I am going for the 200 rear tire on my 2005. I have been told by a few people that I can use the 2007 or 2008 fatboy swingarm to make room for the bigger tie. I would also have to cut the rear fender horns off the 2005 and get aftermarket fender and struts.

I asked that very question to a harley tech, he said that the frame is different and it would not work, i was hoping to sell my 200 swingarm

Not only that, but the front to rear wheel center alignment would be off. My advise, don't attempt.

FWIW... It's possible to fit a 200mm tire to even an '02 swingarm.&nbsp\\; Dimensionally, they're identical to the '07's.&nbsp\\; I built my own kit using HD parts, ('07 Bobtail fender and all the original belt guards etc.)&nbsp\\; I centered the wheel up in the swingarm and adjusted everything else to fit from there.&nbsp\\; Over 3k trouble free miles.&nbsp\\; I did use Custom Struts.com and removed the frame horns.&nbsp\\; The struts adapt the '02 frame to the newer wider fender,&nbsp\\;(bolt pattern is different where the struts bolt to the frame),&nbsp\\;and removing the frame horns provide the clearance needed for the tire.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Pretty straight forward mod these days.&nbsp\\; And yes, it's pretty but it ain't cheap even if you do it yourself.
&nbsp\\;
Mine is an '02 Softail.&nbsp\\; Search the subject.&nbsp\\; I'm sure you'll find quite a bit of information relative to fitment, involving struts, wider fender and wider wheel, etc....
&nbsp\\;
Good luck with it !
