Default Installing 21" wheel and lowering '12 Fatboy

I'm currently in Afghanistan, and that means my bike is getting some work for when I come home in a few months. I've already got Stage 1 and handlebars hammered out, and in doing my research I'm sure I'm going to have more questions but right now I have a question about lowering the bike.

I'm fond of the idea of going with Ride Wright Fat Daddy 50 chrome wheels - 21" front and 18" rear. If I want to lower the rear 1.5-2", how much should I lower the front (if at all) to accommodate the 21"? I appreciate any help.

I lowered mine 2" and rides perfect but I would recommend the ShotGun shock for the rear. BTW I have my 21" and 18" Ride Rights for sale.

I have to disagree on 2" lowered, but that is just my opinion. I am lowered 1" on mine but consider every inch you lower the lower bike the less travel you avhe in teh front end which affects the ability to soak up bumps. Not sure how your roads are but ours such here.

Regardless, do what you want. The 21" wheel sits about 1.25" higher than the stock front wheel on the bike which is part of the reason that many people lower the front end. My goal was to get the geometry of teh bike back into spec. I like ground clearance and lowering did lessen that a bit but my softail is not my main canyon carver anymore.

When I put the 21" on the front before I lowered the bike (I rode it like this for years)I noticed that the steering was a bit slower at slow parking lot speeds. That was the extent of any "issue" that I had. Had I not wanted to put the intiminators in teh forks I would not have bothered to lower it.

Rode the "Low Rider" in to work today and boy does it handle differently than the Dyna. They are two completely different animals. If you need help with anything or questions answered please feel free to ask. I do not sell Ride Wrights but I do sell Sinister Big Daddy's which are also 50 fat spokes. I rock them on my Dyna and they are great. My softail has Ride Wrights on it.

Sinister Big Daddy's

Ride Wright Fat 50's

I got a 21 inch DNA front wheel on mine, platinum bleed and fedd air ride in the rear. No drop in the front, the ride is fine.

Good to know. Who makes the front fender on your bike? It looks slick.

What is the difference between the Fat Daddy, Sinister, Ride Wright and DNA wheels?
