05 Deuce No Start "clicks"

Went to start my 05 with the original battery and the lights etc come on but it just clicks when I try to start it. The connections were all good and solid. This was only my 3rd time of starting the bike this summer.
&nbsp\\;
Hoooked the battery up to that charger and it shows under 1 amp which according to my instructions, on the lowest setting (2 amp?) that is fully charged....
&nbsp\\;
Other ideas? Could it still be my battery?

Usual batterie life is about 3 years depending on if you
keep it on a batterie tender or not. I would try a new one.

I wouldn't bet on it, but I am pretty sure it's the battery from what you said.&nbsp\\;

It's probably the battery.&nbsp\\; The new batteries from Harley are internally damaged if allowed to go dead.&nbsp\\; The chemical solution hardens inside and cannot be jumped and charged back up, like a regular lead acid battery.&nbsp\\; If it is clicking, you are going to need a new battery.

Before you buy a new battery, you might as well take the cables off and clean all the connections. It could just be some corrosion.

Went home last night. Put my volt meter to the battery. 12 volts. Hmmmm. Still just clicked....
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
Removed battery and charged it for 2 hours anyway. Put it back in and it clicked 2 times but then kicked in and fired up. Put the volt meter back on while reving bike up and it did kick up to about 14volts then back down to 12 at idle. Went for a ride to charge her up.

I have never had a battery show 12 volts but not turn over an engine..............I guess I should buy a new battery any way?? Bought the bike in 11/04. Freaking dealer wants $125.

ORIGINAL: bucs012

I have never had a battery show 12 volts but not turn over an engine.
I had the same thing happen on another bike I owned. The meter showed 12 volts, but no go. It takes a lot to kick a hog. Try using a trickle charger every day after use instead of just for storage. My last battery lasted 8 years.
