Get a different seat or take your current one to someone in your area that can remove seat cover -shave the padding and replace the cover. My wife has a Heritage Softail Classic. She likes the seat rail look - so we purchased a Deluxe seat thru e-bay - first time riding her Classic with the Deluxe seat - she complained about the same problem (Being to close) the seat has now been modified and recovered in "Black Gator" Looks and works well. By the way - the Softail Classic seat should fit your bike - it will move you back - check e-bay for a Deal

I pulled the cover off and shaved it down. Do a search for it on this site and there is good step by step instructions.

I am 6'3" 240 and needed to scoot back a little even with my mini apes. I removed the cover and cut away about one and a half inches of the rear rim foam. Then took my 4 inch makita grinder and shaped it (talk about mess!). After that I cut and formed an old memory foam pillow to fill where I removed the old seat foam and in the "saddle". Re-installed and tighened the seat upholtersy and wala and nice comfey scoot back memory foam seat. I just wish my staple job looked as good as HD's. You can seat slight wave at the edge of the memory foam but its not too bad. I will post a pic later. Next I am gonna make my low springer classic backrest to go on the rail. |
