Default question on lowering the rear of the bike

I was wondering if you need a bike lift to install lowering bolts for the rear of your bike. I don't have a bike lift so I'm trying to figure out if it's something I can do in my garage or am i gonna have to go to the dealer? I have an 08 nt. Thanks in advance.

Also would you have to do adjustments to the rear wheel since I would think lowering the bike would loosen the belt?

You have to lift bike somehow to get rear wheel off ground. So if you find any other way how instead of lift, why not. Also you have to access well the bolts holding shocks, the 2 bolts at rear are pain to unsrew......

I bought lif last week just due to lowering. Lift costed around 250 usd and i think its great useful tool for any future work on bike, for me definitely worth of the money.

For the belt i think it does not affect it at all, but maybe someone else here can correct me.
