Default Lowering front suspension on my 06 Deluxe

I was planning to lower my front end on my deluxe by swapping out the springs but I read in the HD parts book that I also need to lower the rear. Is that true? I really dont want to lower my rear, what would the consequences be if I only lowered the front only. The springs only lowers the front by 1 inch, I wouldnt think that would change the handling to much.

I don't believe that applies to the Deluxe as they're already lowered in the rear from the factory.
