I agree on all the posts about the wild 1's...
I suggest for your height, sit on a new Heritage at the dealer. They have about a 10" I think rise. I'm 6' and they're what I'm riding now but I could go higher.. I like their geometry so I'm considering the W0515 wild1's.. It's a 10" "Mini-Ape" and that might be a comfortable bar for you if you like the heritage feel. I'm considering the 12" apes but I'm still moping on the porch about it instead of jumping in the tall grass and running with the big dawgs.. And also the pain and suffering of running internal wires and swapping clutch brake and throttle cables.. SHOO [:'(]

Thanks. I do also think apes look awesome. I have seen 18" and even 20" apes; and let me tell you, those fools are really hanging at the edge of those bars. It looks kind of dangerous and funny how they just hang like real apes.

I tinks I'm going for 16" Apes. Anyone know more or less how much I need to dish out?

thanks,

chilango

I'm 6'1" and recently put 16" Wildone's on my Deuce. They are just above shoulder level and I love them so far. I chromed everything and did it myself. I probably have just over $1000 into it.

By the time you buy new cables and brake lines. Are you planning to go with internal wiring?
if so parts and labor you will be real close to $800 to $1000 unless you plan on doing it your
self.cables and bars $575 give or take a few. just remember that you will have to cut the factory
wiring harness and extend it.the only plus is it makes it easier to run internaly through bars.Let
us know how you make out.Good luck.

Hey Rick, kick butt bike. I was wondering if you had to do anything with your cables?

Chilango, I am 5'9" and have 14" wildone chubby's on my fatboy. They are extremely comfortable. I could ride all day with them. I was considering 16" ers and decided that they would be comfotable too, but decided against changing them due to needing new cables again. Anyway, try to find people who have apes and get them to let you ride their bike. I rode a friends with 18" ers and thats to high for me, but he is rather tall and lanky. Apparantly their is some formula for figuring this out, but I don't know it. If your 5'8" go for 12.5"'s or 14"'ers. The 16"ers lok better, but maybe just a little to much.

What I would recommend to those that are interested is this. Look up the website for wild 1 chubbies and they have a lot of neat pics of people and their bikes. They have pics of different size apes on customer bikes and they are really cool to look at. Works for me.

...just remember that you will have to cut the factory wiring harness and extend it.
Actually, I saw a product at JP cycles I think TC pointed us to on another forum with the color coded patch wiring and shrinkwrap so the splice is cleaner, infact I don't think you have to splice and solder at all, just unplug, extend and plug back in...

Here it is:
