Default Heritage rear turn signal bar question

It seems like this should be simple, maybe someone can help me a with a little info.

I want to change to shorter turn signal bar. How does the wiring disconnect from the stock pancake lights?

There appears to be two wires--one that's just a metal clip that slides off. The other is some kind of rubber encased connector. How does that one disconnect? Doesn't seem to just unplug and I don't want to force it.

It unplugs from inside the tail light. Then it fits thru a hole to the under side of the fender to the turn signal light. Do not take wires apart in side turn signal.
