If you have sat on a factory Deluxe with factory seat, you will see a HUGE difference in height. Once you get used to sitting down so low, it takes getting used to sitting up high like on the stock Crossbones. Once I swapped out the seat springs for 1 inch shorter springs, it was a bit easier.

I do love how comfy the Crossbones seat is though.

Do you have a link or part number for the shorter springs?

I swapped the stock Crossbones seat out for the Deluxe Sprung saddle, basically the same seat pan with almost no padding on it. I liked that it sat you about 2" lower than the stock one, and unlike the stock seat I didn't find that I was constantly sliding off the back of the seat and half sitting on the fender. If you like the riding stance on your deluxe then you're going to take some getting used to on the sprung stock Crossbones seat, as you're going to be anywhere from 2"-3" higher, at least.

Even without the padding though I found I could ride on that seat all day. The extra cushioning from the springs along with the nice wide seat pan for extra support made it one of the best seats in terms of comfort I've ever ridden on. I tried it with shorter 1" springs, but was constantly bottoming out and jamming my spine, so I went back to the stockers.

The crossbones stock seat is comfortable, way more comfortable that the stock Nightrain I had....
The only thing, I found it too big and sticks too high up, for my taste...

I love my stock seat, only problem is that it hurts my hip joints. I'm around 5'9" and don't have the best of joints anyway. I was actually thinking the other day about seeing if anyone on here has the same problem or if anyone has any suggestions.

The CB seat is very omfortable on my bike. Just did 3000 + mile trip (over 600 miles just on one day) with the CB seat.

To FXDForbes: If your hip joints are bothering you, you probably need to either move your seat forward or the rests for your feet (boards or pegs) back further under you.

How do you move the crossbones seat forward?
