Nice Springer! Nothing like em. I agree...I don't care for the looks of the shocks...plus the angle of the shock mounted seems like it would put bad stress loads on the seat bracket.

I'll be perfectly honest...the stock crossbones seat was not the most comfortable seat...and I always felt like I was going to slide off it. I installed a slimmer seat with more of a "bowl" shape in the back....no sliding and I can ride all day. It's not about the padding...it's about the shape of the seat.

The only other springs i tried on my seat to lower it some were aftermarket scissors springs which broke after less than a year...and I'm not a big guy. I went back to my original 2-3/4" springs. 4" would seem to have too much sway...and 2" would have almost no travel before bottoming out.

Have you looked at something like this with the harley scissors springs? NOt sure if the width will work with the wider bones seat though.

I thought HD also offered a crossbones seat conversion kit (for all softails)...might check with them.

Here is my bike with the scissors springs.

...and what it looks like now.

Does anybody know if the springs come in different tensions? The 2" sit me too low---the 3 " sit fine, but are too springy. Every time I get on the throttle, I sink and have to hold on. The 4" are a bit high, but they ride fine, but my issue with them is they are too loose side to side. The shocks are not too bad, but I don't like the looks. I want a Springer---not a SHOCKER!

I tried the scissors type but it didn’t fit with the mounting frame. The posts on the brackets were to big. Back to the 2” for now. Nice bike BTW.
