What he said.....79532 is the part number I bought. 17.5" wide studded solo w/backrest. The Sundowner that I also have seats me considerably lower than the Mustang and I sit back about the same as stock on it. The Mustang brings me forward and up from the Sundowner, and fits my 30" inseam better. I can reach the rear brake better with the Mustang. The backrest is a big plus. It's only been on there a few days and I already love the adjustable back support.

Thank all for so much guidance and suggestions

I'm in touch with Mustang Europe and they are preparing a cost and also the local HD dearlership has a Sundowner to get up close and personal with, shame it is not for my bike but at least I can get a look at the thing

Will be in touch when I get this sorted

My Mustang seat part #79534 (without studs but it is available with studs) then I got the 11 in#79535 rear seat for the ladies!! It has been a great seat! I think im gonna get a Air Hawk Pad for those 1000 mile rides! This seat also compliments the lines of the bike! it exposes the fiull chrome fender strut so I think it adds style also!

The tallboy set is very comfortable just like a sofa. The only reason that I sold mine is because it looks like a sofa too.

I have a '92 Fatboy with the stock seat and after about half an hour I can't feel my azz. I just ordered a Mustang Wide Vintage studded solo seat with the matching passenger seat.
I don't think softness is the most important factor in seat comfort. I think the shape of the seat is what makes it comfortable. I read somewhere that the more they are shaped like a tractor seat the more comfortable they are.
Remember those old solid steel tractor seats, with no padding? You could sit on them all day.
I find the Mustang seat is the one that mostly resembles a tractor seat. While my stock Fatboy seat is wide, it is convex on top while the Mustang is more concave. I think this will make the difference.

I guess 100 to 125 miles is what I'm looking for, so about 2 - 2.5 hours before a refreshment break
We will need to cover 250 - 300 a day on the trip

My mate just phoned me and he has it on good authority that a Sundowner seat in the Harley custom catalogue is meant to be the answer.

Any thoughts on these seats

+1 for the sundowner. It's really comfortable. I put it on when the wife rides with me. She couldn't ride but just a few minutes on the back of the badland seat on my night train. She loves the sundowner. We rode all day out in Texas Hill Country on the sundowner. And she never complained. However, it does seem like it sits me just a little more forward than the badlands seat. And it looks like a big lazy boy recliner sitting on the bike. But I only put it on when the wife is gonna ride with me.

Chop On,
Robert
