Default Adopting Fat Bob/Flat siders to a Deuce

Hey all,

Ok, no flames from the hard core Deuce club please....
I am building 'My dream ride' and, am looking for advice or tips on those who have experience with aftermarket Fat Bob (5 gallon ) tanks.

I would like to mount a standard size pair of the Bob's on my Deuce frame. I found a dealer that sells a set of mock up/weld on brackets and was wondering if anyone here had any advice??

Pretty sure that my Heartland seat is gonna be too short but, I can mod that.

I currently have the Heartland shorty fender, a custom set of Kenny Morris rear struts, a Heartland solo seat, + 4 billet forks (Dual disk), and the bike has been lowered 2 inches.

I've read and read and read about the raked Triple trees and am contemplating a 3 or 5 degree addition but, want to try my stock trees first so.....with all that out of the way....shoot me some hints, tips, suggestions please.

Respects,
Kev

Sounds like a deal thats just gonna take some time and custom fabbing to make work. It isnt gonna be plug and play.

We need to see a few photos of said Duece.

Break bread.

Yup, we figured it would be a bit of a project.

Ordered the tanks last Monday....called on Friday to see where the were:

Seller told me that he had made a mistake when listing them and actually did not have any instock so he would need to re-order?

Tells me then that he will call me on Monday to let me know when he might have some

Also found out today that the rest (and I mean every dang part I have ordered in the last month) of the parts do not fit or need major modifications.

NICE........ what a kick in the nards!

Ain't bike building Fun

Wouldn't you be better off with a newer style one piece tank? Just a thought.

Thumbs up

While it would be easier, I am looking to actually make the tanks appear wider by welding a metal plate to join the 2 beneath the dash plate.

Really looking for a 'industrial' or Rat Rod kinda look to the whole bike.

But, thanks for the input guys.

True that man,

Replaced the factory Deuce bars tonight with a Drag bar set up. What a p.i.t.a. !! Had to dremel out the controls so that I could fit the cables back together.

I can't wait to run new cables with micro switches inside the bars.

Deuces are nice but dang....they suck to find parts for!
