question about dyna's
 

im in the military(special forces) and we all have fatboys,roadkings and classics. Before buying my fatboy i asked what i should get to some of the guys with harleys and they said what ever you do dont get a dyna or a sportster because they are women bikes. Have any of you guys heard of anything like this? all the biker clubs in the area also follow the same idea's. So its not just the SF guys.

Why would a Dyna or a Sportster be a woman's bike? Honestly I do not think any bike is a "woman's" bike unless a woman owns it. I see more women on softtails than I do Dyna's , but that certainly does not make it a woman's bike, at least not to me.

Who cares what anyone else thinks? You are going to be the one who rides, right?

Dyna's and Sporty's are great bikes....
don't get caught up in what other people think....

Buy the bike that speaks to you....

Womens bikes?

Sportsters have the racing heritage of the Moco and if anything due to the smaller size and lower weight may appeal to a woman or smaller rider but the sportster certainly is pretty manly when it leaves you eating its dust thru the twisties or at a stoplight!! But yeah...Chicks do buy them some sporties...I dig the Nightsters myself. I'm just too big to ride one. The Grape Ape thing isnt working for me.

Dynas are the best handling big twin bikes that Moco makes. Dynas are seemingly the bike of choice for true hardcore ride fast bikers as well.

I do think the predominant bike of choice for the Bay area Angels is in fact a Dyna.

Nothing Girlie about a Dyna. Just a bit sportier than our poor handling, poorly suspended, weak braked beloved Sloptails!!

Sportsters are my favorite of all the Harleys. You can't have the same fun on a BT as you can on a nimble Sportster. It's quick and agile and able to fit anywhere and as stated above...can take a BT in the right circumstances. I've got one of each and I actually like the Sportster for everyday commuting and city riding more than the Deluxe. But the Deluxe is nice on those longer rides.

cool, thanks for the quick response. i honestly passed up a few dyna's just because i didn't want to get a bike that would be called a girls bike. I eneded up getting a fatboy a week ago and i love it. after seeing a dyna and a fatboy side by side,i new i had to get a fatboy. ill post pics as soon as i get it back from the shop. Getting pipes,intake and tune.

have to take exception to what you said \, my softail will leave most dyna riders in it's dust but I also believe that 80% of leaving others in the dust is up to the rider. they are all good/great bikes . ride what you want I have for about 50+ years now and still have a few years left I hope. only 68 now..

Good call. Nothing wrong with spending yer' hard earned dough on what you want to be riding....

Thats an interesting survey. I think it says Chicks who ride Harleys are more apt to join a forum and learn more about their bike.

First off....don't buy a bike as a "status symbol"..buy a bike because you love to ride and you understand what riding is about and the freedom it represents.

Second...if my SuperGlide is a woman's bike...that's a tough woman...cause it is a FAST bike...the SuperGlide is my favorite for riding and has a long history. The SuperGlide is one of the most balanced and nimble..ist....bikes on the road.

If you are buying it just to impress your friends, please remember to get you some of the "ubercool" handlebar lace stringy things to go with it...that is sure to impress.
