Does any one with a Rocker and a Harley Standard height windshield experience buffeting when you're going over 55mph? Its annoying as heck!!!! Any way to eliminate buffeting? Do all windshields buffet?
ya a windshield does not go with a rocker but here in northern ont with all the bugs its almost a must . the clip on from Harley looks like sh*t on the bike . i put on a Tome stone .the new one look like sh*t to but better then clip on.wish could find the old kind with chrome brackets. anyway its nice just to take wind off when cruising at higher speeds. your ? no they don't . should be solid.
the buffering comes from air coming up from below the windsheild.
i think you can get add ons to it that deflect away that air or try a 2-3" tank lift and close the gap up a bit may make all the difference
It shouldn't really matter............Rockers shouldn't have a windshield.
I agree. I have gone on a couple of road trips (multiple day, 1,000 + miles) with my friends that have touring bikes and since I don't have a touring bike in addition to my Rocker, that little windshield does help a little. Only time it's been used is on the road trips, other than that it sits in the garage. Would love to be able to afford my Rocker and a touring bike, but just can't do it right now.
In answer to your question - yes -the windshield causes buffeting. The reason is the windshield is curved right at the rider's head. I think this is the same windshield used on another bike - the Dyna? Anyway, since it attaches to the forks, it angles back farther on the Rocker than on another bike because of more front end rake.
You can tell it's the wind coming over the top by putting your hand at top of the windshield while riding and you get an immediate relief of the buffeting.
I'm going to try making a couple of spacers to tip the windshield out a little more at the top. But if that doesn't work, I'll just ride without the windshield. That's the way I've been riding for the past few months. I get a lot less wind buffeting without the windshield.
