Ready to order cams for my TC88, what else do I need?

You need inner torrington bearings from George's Garage, cam bearings, might as well do lifters while you are in there, lifter block cover gaskets, and a bearing puller and a press. I might have forgotten something, I am sure someone else will chime in. Also new tensioner shoes.

Cams should come with outer bearings, my Andrews did. Definitely install Timken b-148 for cam inner bearings. You can get a bearing puller to pull the old ones out and use your old cams and a rubber mallet to gently tap the new ones in. They slide in real easy. Or rent tools. I reused the lifters as the bike only had a couple thousand miles on it. People also use the "oven method" to remove and install outer bearings and cams or rent tools.

1 - #11157, oil pump scavenge, $.70 ea (crankshaft to oil pump (It does not come with the #17045-99C, cam service gasket kit.) When replacing the oring on the pump scavange boss, put the oring on the pump boss first. then push assembly into the scavange hole. If this oring becomes damaged or dislodged, the oil in the engine will not pump back to the tank

11301 O-ring (2) for oil passage in chest (included in ki
25938-00 Rear Cam Sprocket Spacer Kit. ( Contains 5 spacers. If you are using chain drive cams you will need to align the crank shaft sprocket and rear cam sprocket. Any time you change the geometry of the cams , like changing the inner cam bearings or the cam bearings or the cams you may need to realign the rear cam sprocket. They are not in the cam installation kit.)

Cam Tensioner Removal Suggestion -> You can use an open end wrench to pull back the tensioner and then use an allen wrench or nail of the proper size to insert in to hold it back.
----------------------------------------------------------
Cam Plate Install - First the cam plate must be installed center and torqued to spec. What I do is put the plate in and install all the bolts hand tight then loosen 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Then Lift rear of the bike up and put in fifth gear. Rotate the rear wheel to turn motor while tightening the cam plate per the serice manual. This centers the plate.
Oil Pump - With out the tapered alignment pins you install all 4 oil pump bolts, very lightly seat them, then rotate the motor using the rear wheel, trans in 5th or 6th depending on year, spark plugs out, rotate the rear wheel 2 or 3 times, snug bolts a little more, turn the wheel 2 or 3 more times, tighten more, turn more, tighten more, until you get to final torque on the oil pump/cam plate.
----------------------------------------------------------
According to the MOCO service manual-
install 6 screws (outer) in cam support plate and tighten to 90-120 in #'s in proper order
start 2 allen screws in oil pump holes 3 and 4
Put alignment pins in holes 1 and 2
While rotating the engine, alternately snug and tighten the pins to 40-45 in #'s
Alternately tighten 3 and 4 to 40-45 in #'s (not rotating)
Remove pin from hole 1 and install screw and tighten screw to 40-45
remove pin from hole 2 and install and tighten screw to 40-45
final tighten all 4 screws to 90-120 in#'s (final tightening order 1, 2 , 3 ,4)

Son has had the 204's in both his 07 Duece and his new 09 NT, on the 96 he added the 4* advance gear to lower the curve to the left around 300 rpm's, but U won't need it on the 88 with the 5 speed...
I just put in a set of Andrews 26H's this spring and yes u need new cam bearings.
Also depending on miles on motor, maybe new lifters... Mine had over 15k and I decided to install new one.

Also bolt cutters to cut the old push rods out.

I am going to get the screaming eagle push rod kit, it comes with the tubes and o-rings. I have a hydraulic press at work, swapping the cams and bearings is not a problem. The only thing I worry is the oil pump alignment tool, how critical is that? I do not have inner bearing puller either, don't know where to borrow one.
