Crossbones Front Fender Removal - Help
Ok, so ya know when you take something apart then go to put it back together and your like... how'd that go again?
Anyway had my front wheel off and am going to put it back on w/o the front fender and I have a question for those of you that have done this.
What do you do about the spot where the fender strut used to go?
...but now I'm short the fender strut.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Anyway had my front wheel off and am going to put it back on w/o the front fender and I have a question for those of you that have done this.
What do you do about the spot where the fender strut used to go?
There is a wave washer there against the inside of the rocker but with out the fender strut there is nothing pressed against it. There is a sleeve that is inside of the fender strut, but its really in there. I'd hate to try and force it out cause I'd probably just break it. Do I need to put a sleeve in there?
So it should go: Wave washer, fender strut, spacer, [wheel]...but now I'm short the fender strut.
Thanks for any help you can give.

I ran mine without the strut or sleeve for a couple of thousand miles with no problem. I left the wave washer on (wasn't paying close attention during re-assembly). I didn't seem to do anything but ride back and forth, I would recommend leaving the wave washer off unless you can find a spacer to fill the gap left by the strut removal. I couldn't find a spacer that would fit, let me know if you do.

if you ever want to reinstall your finder that strut may become a very expensive spacer. Any machine shop should be able to fix you up. if your handy you could make your spacer any solid material should do(alum-steel-brass) you could try what im gonna try -plaster mold of strut fll mold with jb-weld sand it paint it drive like you stole it
