I just bought a 2009 Deluxe and I want to start modifying it. One of the things is to get the seat reupholstered in leather with some special work done. I want to buy a donor seat off ebay for this, but I'm not sure if there is a difference between the years. One dealer told me that they are the same from 2005 up, but I hear from other people that there were changes along the way.

Does anyone know what seats fit between the years? Are there big differences within the Softail family?

 

You are looking for an 08 and up deluxe seat. The fools on ebay (and some dealers) are incorrect in telling you the 05 will work. The struts changed in 08. earlier seats do NOT fit. Best of luck with the project.

 

If my memory services me correctly any Deluxe/ Heritage 07 and up but get a another opinion to back this up.

 

I have a 07 Heritage seat on my 05 Deluxe ,fits perfect.

Just curious, what do the struts have to do with seat fitment? My 06 seat doesn't attach to the struts.

Yes, I know now I'm using a Heriatge Springer seat but it attaches the same as my stock seat.

I'm the original poster and I bought a seat from an '05 with my fingers crossed that it would fit. It came today and it fits my 2009 Deluxe just fine.

The only difference is that the hardware on the rear of the '09 seat slips in slots on the bottom of the seat, where the '05 has two bolts to hold it on. The hardware on each are exactly the same and both attach to the rear fender the same way.

I hope this clears things up for anyone else looking.

 

I agree with MikeNY seat does not mount to the strut in any way. and like the other member said slight difference on the under side that can be very easily be modified. i guess teck speaking it wont go right on so they will not list it that way
