Rear Wheel Spacers
 

OK, I am about 160 miles from home, come out of a buddys house this morn to a rear flat tire, no big deal, got his lift, proceed to remove rear wheel to get tire replaced since about worn out anyway. No problem getting everything apart, now my ?, On the brake side there are 2 spacers, 1 about 1" long and 1 about 1/4" long, when we pulled out the rear axle the spacers fell out and now without my service book I do not know location for reassembly. Looks as the thinner 1 would go in swing arm then the capliper mount then the wider spacer against the bearing in wheel?? It is a 2008 Nighttrain, any help would be great. Thanks

On my '06 with the 200mm tire, the thinner spacer went between the wheel and the caliper. Before mounting the, wheel, set it up next to the bike and slip the caliper over the disc (as if it were mounted and see which one fits. The wrong spacer would make the brake pads rub, or not let the caliper mount at all.....

according to the 2009 parts catalogue, the longer spacer (18) at the wheel and the shorter one (27) at the frame ... can't imagine they would change that from one model year to another.

You are right.....there is no change. Short spacer goes against the brake caliper.
