Fuel Filter

I'm ready to do my 25,000 mile service on my '04 Heritage. How hard is it to replace the fuel filter? I have a manual and it doesn't LOOK hard. I realize sometimes the actual doing is another story. Any tips?

Thanks.

If it is carb'd then drain the tank and pull the fuel valve. The filter is up in the tank. I've found the easiest way to drain the tank is to begin unscrewing the fuel valve with a long necked funnel under it. Unscrew the valve and let the gas drain in to a container.

I should have posted. It is not carbed . . . EFI. Do I still drain the tank?

Don't have to drain but run it low. Get the filter and gasket and new mounting screws first, Harley doesn't always stock them. There is a pattern to tighten the ten screws. When you remove the assembly carefully, you have to remove the fuel line hose first ( it doesn't stretch to far) Get a new clamp from HD and use sidecutters to clamp it.
