Does anyone know the width of the rear wheel bearings 2008 FXST 17"x6" wheel?
or the width of the spacer you have to use when installing a 2006 wheel on the 2008?

I purchased a new HD dish chrome wheel not realizing they changed the double roller to a single in the 2008. Damn shame that as the 2006 bearings last and last.
BTW I know the axle size are different 3/4" on the 06 and 25mm on the 08.
By my verniers the 2006 is 2.045"od, .746"id, .824"wide or 51.92mm OD, 18.95mm ID, 20.95 width..

 

08 bearing are 25mm ID 52mm OD and your width is 15mm. Good luck........I am just now getting around to trying to install an 08 17x6 spoke on my 06 FXSTS. So many different opinions and really no one having an exact answer. I am going to use the 25mm bearings and have a machine shop press in bushing to make them 3/4 and play with spacers from there. Hard to beleive no one makes a 3/4 ID bearing with 15mm width.

 

Thanks for the reply friend and good luck with your project. Would it be possible to get the machine shop to machine the bearing section out in the wheel to fit the 21mm wide 3/4" bearings and crush tube?

I am disappointed I cannot use the double race bearings, would love to find the wide bearings with 25mm id
