Check out the UltraCool with the built in fan for the softail. It is brand new and will keep your oil much cooler than a regular oil cooler. I can get if or you for a nice discount. Email or PM for pricing if you are interested. i am waiting on arrival on mine and will post a how to once I receive it as well as how well it works.

Ok, I've had a beer or 2, but I just gotta say it! They look like chit and they are for the parinoid.

Arizona may be hotter, but summer temps here in west TX reach as high as 108 degrees (dry heat) and no one around here has them. Harleys are extremely durable if the maintenance is done right.

Unless you are a cross country rider that puts 30,000 miles a year on your sled, than you are wasting your money!

Get rid of the oil temp gauge and ride it like she's a HARLEY!

I used strips of wide velco on my deuce and it never fell off. It makes it easier to remove to service and you can always easily replace the velco if needed

Waiting for your review and I will order if it works. I spend a lot of time stuck in traffic jams and this looks like the solution.

I'm not sure if the Jeg's comes with one or not, but the HD version comes in a kit that includes a thermostatic control to bypasses the cooler if the oil temps are below 180 degree's.
If I have a beef with it its the way the chrome cover is held on with silicone sealant instead of bolts and is the main reason I haven't put it on yet.
I want a better way to attach it and may have to resort to making something on my own.
If I do make my own I want to fit it with a pair of small fans for low speed cruising on hot summer days.
Feel the same way about the chrome piece. I may just go without it. I think most of the other oil coolers are just black and don't provide a chrome piece. Less noticeable that way too.

I have the HD Oil Cooler and I used Silicone to hold the chrome cover in place. I followed the instruction sheet that came with the cooler for where to put the silicone. That was about a year ago and no issues or even a hint that it might fall off.

As far as the performance of the cooler goes, I couldn't be happier. Extreme temperatues before the cooler are now completely acceptable. All that being said the cooler would almost certainly work better at cooling the oil if the cover was left off. If you look at how the "Bar and Shield" Graphics cover some of the front of the cooler and how the cover wraps around the cooler itself, the cover just has to block a good bit of the air flow through and around the thing.

I have run my bike without an oil cooler since 2005 without issue. I actually removed my oil temp gauge as I became paranoid about checking the temp all the time as well. I am not saying one is not necessary, but I want to know how much the temp will decrease by.

Sorry, i had couple totties last night. I aslo would like to know! The ones that have them seem to pay attention to them alot though.

Drew, also in about 30 days I'm looking to get the D&D fatcats for my 2001 Ultra w/ a ghost pipe. I also want the thundermax tuner, but I can only afford one of them right now.

If I buy the thundermax I will probably get it through my indy, but I can wrench the pipes myself. So what kinda deal can you find me on them (pipes). Remember it will be about 30 days before I can pull the trigger.

No need to apologize for anything. It's all perspective. 6 years without an oil cooler and I am scratching my head as to why I am going to get one still. I'll pm you on the fatcat. I'll bet i can beat your indy's price on the thundermax too. Another good option is teh Revolution performance EMS. Do some reading on it before committing to one or the other. The EMS is an autotune that tunes in real time which i really like the idea of. I'm PM'ing you now.
