Softail Air Ride
I found a deal on an air ride system. A buddy of mine has one for sale for $350. He thinks it is a legends system, I will be going to look at it tomorrow. Are there systems that I should steer away from?

Yeah, you should steer away from air ride systems. How do you feel about pulling it every time you need to change the tranny oil?

Not a fan of the legends, I just ordered a Shotgun looks to be the best around right now. There is a thread here if you want to get in on it, special price.

why do you not like the legend air ride? Pulling the system is not that big of a deal for me, I used to be a mechanic and I dont put that many miles on my bike a year.

I went by a looked at the air setup. It is a legend. He let me take it home and look up info on it. It doesn't look like a bad setup. Any info is accepted from hdf members.

I have heard the legend air ride is not as comfortable because it gives a pogo effect while riding. Also, the system is not flush with the frame. If you bottom out your gonna drag on the air ride.

Another thing is that on the legends the air line is full of air so if it breaks, The system will lose the air. The shotgun shock only uses the air line to fill the unit so there is no chance of this happening. Shotgun also has a compression and damping setting so there is no pogo effect. However, for $350 it's a steal as they retail for about $1500. Even if you install it and don't like it you can still sell it for more than you paid for it.

I would love to buy a brand new system and pick my brand. This however is not in my budget, but if it was I'm sure I would go with shotgun as I have heard a lot of great things about them. I am trying to find a cheap way to lower my bike and ran across this deal and may get it for 300. I hope that it will be more comfortable than the lowering bolts that you buy and add to your shocks. I know 350 is a great buy for this but it is still a fair amount of money for me. With that being said I always research anything I buy and I have seen good and bad testimonials with this product. With every product there is always someone who isn't happy with it. I guess some people are just hard to please!
