I'm a '09 Dyna SG owner, 90% city (heavy traffic / lane splitting), thinking upgrading to a '09 Fat Boy or Heritage. Any opinions on the advantages of one vs the other? Do the rides are similar? Thanks!

they are both great bikes ( actually, all Harley's are )
the Heritage comes with bags and a windshield. The leather-studded bags give it more of a retro look.
Best advice is to go test-ride both. ....maybe one of them will 'feel' like your bike.
Kinda' like picking a puppy out of a litter....look....touch...and one of them will be saying;
"Pick me...I'm yours."
good luck with your decision ( you got a high-class problem ..enjoy it )
Eventhough they are basically the same bikes, the style is different. Which one is more appealing to you when you look at it is a start. A test ride of each is also a idea....
I like the Fat Boy better myself and if I was doing 90% city riding then it would be no contest. Now if I wanted to tour alot I'd probably go with the Heritage because as mentioned above it's a much better deal.
i have both the ride is about the same i like the handle bars on the heretage better, more comfortable and the windshield and bags are a plus for cargo, the fatboy is a fun ride but i have already ordered a windshield for it. both are great bikes if i only had one i would choose the heratage. my heratage is a 2007 and my fatboy is a 2010 so being fair to the fatboy i have only had it for a week and about 300 miles.
Yep, it depends on if you want a bike that's dressed or undressed. I had the same dilemma. If you'll eventually want a windshield and bags, get the HERITAGE. I'm glad I did.
That was the 2 bikes I considered 2 years ago and ended up with the Heritage because I wanted the windshield, back rest, and saddlebags. I thought about buying the FB and adding them but then the Heritage came out much cheaper. Also, if you remove the saddlebags and windshield, you'll see the Heritage is a FB with wire wheels. The new FB does have a wider rear tire though.
get the Heritage and if you want the stripped down look like the Fat Boy just take off the windshield and bags. price the bags and windshield as you'll most likely want them down the road. they're not cheap and easier to just take them off if you already have them than go out and buy them after the fact.
here's my old Heritage without the bags and just the front seat.
Agreed with everyone here. The FB and Heritage feel about the same to me. I went with fatboy - but it's used and has the bags/windshield already installed.
