Default Rear Axle Nut Size

OK I have the service manual and about to install rear axle covers on my 08 Deluxe, the axle has to be slid enough to allow the bracket to be installed and nowhere in the manual (that i can find) tells me what size of the axle nut. Anyone know off hand so I can go get a socket?

1 3/8" I think may even be an 1 1/2. It's bigger then 1 1/4 cuz I had to pick up a set of larger sockets...boo hoo You can use a large cresent wrench but I would make sure you torqe it back down to spec. Over tighting them will put pressure on those spacers and can damage your bearings.... Good luck

I called service manager about this last week, is a 36 mm nut. Don't know the size of the bolt head, but that one is smaller.

Why not take the nut with you, to your favorite tool store?
