Question Painting V&H Heat Shields

I have the V&H Big Radius 2-1 exhaust. The pipes came from Drag Specialties to the dealer with scratched heat shields. Drag is going to replace the shields with new "unscratched" chrome heat shields. Since Drag sent the wrong pipe the first time, and then sent defective "scratched" heat shields the second time, I am going to ask to keep the scratched shields for my time to travel to Davenport twice (45 mins each way twice).

So...to the question. I was thinking of painting the heat shields black and leaving the rest chrome for a different look. Any idea what would work best to paint the chrome? Should I powder coat them? BBQ paint? Crinkle Coat? What will look best and not burn off. Lookin for ideas. Just to clarify, the two pipes coming from the engine will be black, and where they join and form one pipe will be chrome.

Thanks for that tip. I'm going to give it a shot. I have nothing to lose. If they look like crap I'll put the new chrome ones on it.
