My Springer just clicks

I installed a battery about 1 month ago,and I have been sick so I haven't rode it at all for a month, well just around the block a few times, maybe once a week.I just had a little work done to my bike, needless to say I couldn't wait to ride her. After driving about 30 miles I stop for gas,and I try to start it,nothing, well nothing but clicks. It sounded like a low battery instead of the 1 click for the starter. After finally getting some help with a push,I jump started it back home.I put it on the charger, but before it only read 10.1volts.Any ideas what is going on?

Are your battery bolts nice and tight?

Cowboy Rob 05-05-2010 11:08 PM

Yeah,and I checked the ground,everything seems tight.

Well, 10 volts on a battery is definitely low. I know you just got a new one, but I think that is the culprit. Maybe your voltage regulator is having issues charging the battery.

Great, and just after paying my bill at the shop. Not real happy now, especially after the whole gas station situation.

Whats the easiest way to test it to see if it is indeed the problem?

They have to be charged before you use them.

Left it on charge last night, now it is charged and ready to be tested.

Ok,just went into the garage with a fully charged batter, after starting it the bike was registering 12.6 volts.
