Default Trick New Garage Door Opener Switch (PICS)

So I got tired of carrying around the garage door opener in my jacket and wanted something a little more custom. I bought an identical switch to the one on the left side of my tank console (the one you use to scroll through mileage and time and stuff). I drilled a hole on the right side of the console and mounted the switch and then wired it to my garage door opener and hid it all inside the console. Looks stock and its easy to reach.

Inside view of switch mounted in console...

Opener mounted inside. I just used two-sided tape...

Finished...

Cost about $10 and only had to drill one hole.

OK, that rocks. I guess its too late to ask you to show a pic of exactly what wires you connected to on the garage remote?

Did you hard wire it for power? There is a way you can do that so you don't have to replace the battery

Excellent idea, my wife and me are both going to copy you and do this simple mod. I carry an opener in my pocket every time I ride and it gets on my nerves when I try to get my phone out or change.

Each opener is a little different. Just pop it open and look at the button that opens your door from the inside. It just makes a connection between two metal strips. I soldered wires to each side and ran them out of the switch. If your opener is like mine, let me know and I will pop it open and take a pic...no problem.

Nope...The batteries last forever it seems and it is a snap to pull it out and replace it. Nice thought tho...

I have the same style remote and would love more infor on the wiring. Also, what HD part number do you need for the console switch?
