Default Cheap Helmet Lock for my FBL (w/pics)

Here is a cheap lock you can use to lock your helmet up on your bike. I went down to the hardware store and picked up this combination hikers quick-link lock. I picked the place to lock my helmet that was easy to get to and the helmet could rest out of view and against the down tube frame but it could be used anywhere on the bike. Just thought I’d pass this onto anyone that could use a cheap and easy helmet lock. Cost was about $5 bucks. Here some pics…

Nice DIY , is there a helmet stealing problem were you are from? I normally just rest my helmet on my bars or center gauge.

Thanks for the feedback guys....

Never had any problems with stealing of helmets but always locked mine too. I guess its more for peace of mind. Riding with a group I dont think there would be an issue but riding solo and leaving the bike out of site for awhile could bring out temptation...IMO.

This lock is so easy to clip on and off and then slip it into your pocket while riding I could not resist using it. Most aftermarket locks require a key or some kind of device added to the bike.

That's a great idea props to you. I always looked at helmets like under wear, wouldn't wear some one's else's.

I locjk my helmet to. But I do it with a $10 travel lock. One with a short steel cable works great. I always lock it around the mirror. The cable is too short to go over the mirror.

Rick good point!!! I guess i'm thinking of young kids or teenagers who have nothing better to do also.

Lucky, good idea and lets you be a bit more flexiable where you lock stuff with on the bike.

This almost the same one, but it is the same principle. You just leave your helmet on your mirror so no fluids can come in.

My S&W handcuffs do a great job of this. Just put them around the bars or whatever else you fancy. No mounting of anything. Stuff them in your toolbag and away you go.
