It will change the gas gage accuracy... like it is accurate to begin with. I figured out how far I could go three times by running until I was out of gas... had a backup bottle with me. All three times I went 221-223 miles... now I know when to stop and how far I can go. No inaccurate gages or lights or worries.......The reason for the longer crossover line in the kit is because if you only raise the tank an inch or so the gas line won't fit above the frame backbone... if you go up high enough, the regular crossover line will fit between the tank and the backbone... no need for a longer line.

Not to sound like a smart ***, but when you think about it, that makes no sense at all.
While the pump itself 'might' sit up out of the fuel for longer periods of time if you like to run your bike below half a tank all the time.
The pump doesn't depend on the fuel surrounding it for cooling as much as it uses the fuel flowing through it for any cooling needs.
So I have to believe that 'lifting a tank means cooking a fuel pump' is one of those now so bright things said by people who don't think things through very well.

I raised my tank about 2 1/4" with a couple of u-bolt braces I picked up at lowe's for about $2. I got a section of fuel line and some hose clamps at the local auto parts store and some chrome acorn nuts from ace hardware. Total investment about $15. Don't forget the blue loctite.

I made my own with a sheet of steele and a bandsaw. Drill a hole in each end and used some old stainless bolts from old projects. I raised the front 1 3/4".I also raise the rear 3/4" it gives a slight amount of angle change. But it gives alot motor clearance. I reused the stock rubber hose but relocated it above the frame brace.
