Question Softail fender interchangeability?

Hi all,

New here on forum and Harley rider to-be at this stage...
It's a heartbreaking choice for me between the bike I need (Heritage) and the one I love (Fat Boy). The heritage simply has all I need for comfortable office commuting and occasional day trips, but the looks of the fat boy...stunning. The thing that I visually dislike about the Heritage are the retro fenders. Especially the front one.

1. First and foremost: Does anyone know if front fenders from other softails fit the heritage (plan to buy new, so post-2018 models)? Like the ones from Fatboy, Low Rider or Standard?
2. Secondly (maybe a longer term project: Can rear fenders of other softails (same swingarm like sport glide, not the wider fat boy or breakout) be fitted on a heritage? I understand this requires changing the lights as well.

I searched all over but couldn't find clear info for the post 2018 softails...

Benjamin

the rear can be done, the frames are the same,,, rear tire size dependent, you may need the struts as well

i actually did a 2009 bobtail rear for my fxlrs
this was during the fitting stage, and no rear tail light. i did use the Harley 3 bar LED for the 2009

I think the fender off the M8 slim would fit.

I always thought that the front fender from the Freewheeler would look Great on the Heritage. And if I got one that would be my first mod .

I think the dual disc brakes look great too . But that would be a big money mod for sure .

You need to test ride both bikes; they handle very differently. After your test rides, ask yourself how you will use the bike most of time and which handled more confidently for your riding style. Both bikes can have add-ons to address your needs.

Thanks. But that’s exactly why I chose the heritage. Fits my need, more nimble, will make more use of it for communiting rather than bar-hopping. And that’s also why I hope to be able to so something about the fenders 😉…

Thanks all for the advice so far. Anyone aware if any fenders of other 2018 soft tails would bolt on? Especially the front one?

This! Those “sporty” vestigial fenders that are so popular won’t seem so great once you get caught in a downpour and your front tire is throwing road spray in you face.
