Default Rocker C, DG Seat & Touring Strut System

I purchased a Danny G seat for my Rocker C and to believe it is the best decision I made about an aftermarket purchase.

I managed to get my hands on a touring strut kit for a FXCW with all the associated goodies – luggage rack, passenger seat and sissy bar.

I thought I could get them to work together. However, the mounting bracket for the DG seat won’t work with the HD touring strut system. They both mount up at the same place.

I usually take day trips without a passenger.

I would like to make this work for those rare occasions when the wife wants to hop on or I have the opportunity for an overnight trip.

Any ideas?

Someone is selling the seat and pan off of a FXCW on eBay. If I purchase the seat and pan, will I need anything else if I go that way?

The stock FXCW seat is not my first choice and I won't consider this option if I will need anything beyond the seat and pan.

I would rather find a way to make it work with the DG seat.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It only take a few minutes to remove the DG seat and install the FXCW seat and touring system. Why not go with that. Or machine a cut out in the touring strut to accept the Dg seat bracket?

That's what I'd do if needing 2 upseating.

You will need the following parts:
  1. FXCW Seat 51480-08
  2. FXCW Bracket Support/Solo Seat 51886-08
  3. Grommets (11669)
If all you need is the grommetsthey don't cost much at all ($4.00). The FXCW seat is much more comfortable than the FXCWC seat and almost as comfortable as the Danny Gray (I have both). I had my struts chromed and it looks like this:

just give the struts a bit of a shave so it clears the seat tab, its an easy mod, theres plenty of meat on those struts....

works a treat----> https://www.hdforums.com/forum/membe...46469-0-0.html

Just take a Dremel tool and notch the struts. That's all there is to making the DG seat mounting brackets fit the struts. It's not necessary to notch the bottom strut portion where the bolt goes through, just the top.

Why can't I open any of the pictures here, I have a Danny Gray seat and want to use my HD Strut system with it but I can't see how you have done this.

Default Danny Gray Seat with HD Strut

OK, well I just finished cutting out all the extra metal to get the Danny Gray seat to fit. I should have taken pictures as I went but just wanted to get it done and mounted. I end up removing about 1/2" of metal and inch wide on the front mounting lug. If you do this with a burr tool be careful when you get close to the edge since it will take off on you and rip around areas you don't want to be at. It does seem like I'm going to lose a little room. I'm sitting up straighter now than when I had the FXCW seat on but I am lower now than before. I may take it back off for picture when I repaint the scuffed up areas.
