XiED. Extreme inline enrichment device. Nightrider.com. Inexpensive fix for the lean epa system on the late model harleys. Only available for a harley with the O2 sensors. Very simple plug in unit that enriches the fuel mix.
The XIEDs are a pair of "cheater" wires that change the O2 sensor return voltage to the ECM, and tell the ECM that your engine is running "lean". The ECM adds fuel - voila!
Installation is simple: unplug the wire that goes to the O2 sensor, plug in the XIED. Done.
I had a pair on my 07 Heritage, and have a pair on my 09 Heritage. With the XIEDs, my SE A/C, and a pair of Rush 2.0s, I get about 43mpg on the wide slab (between 70-80mph). A little bit of popping, but nothing bad. And the bike seems to run MUCH cooler.
They are no substitute for a good dyno... but they're a good stopgap measure until you get a SERT and do a dyno run (together, at least $600).
Went against the advice of V&H concerning the FuelPak. Installed it, set it up according to the manual. Bike now runs much cooler and the wife is happy.
