Carb all the way. Here are the reasons....
1. You or just about anyone can work on it.
2. If you want to change pipes, or anything else on the engine, all you have to do is buy a $5 jet.
3. It idles lower, sounding better.
4. It don't cost a fortune to work on the fuel system.
5. Carbs have worked for years and you can buy one from a lot of different companies.
So, in the end, if you want to change anything, you've already saved money. If you want to change anything on EFI, you have to remap it costing $100s of dollars........
EFI, so, you can start it W/O choking it........WOW.......What a concept! As far as the 96ci or the 88ci, that wouldn't even be a factor to me. Do what you want, but I'll spend 10 or 20 seconds to choke my TC88B.

I figured that I might as well try to buy an 2006 now, than wait 1 or 2 years. All that would happen is that I would end up spending the same amount on a used night train if i waited. Why spend 15k on a used night train 1 or 2 years later when I can get a new 06 now? I'll definitely be giving them a call back soon.

If you're infact ready to buy, I'd just make 'em an offer on it.. All they can do is say no or counter it (a little negotiating, which used to be unheard of with Harley's).. Strike a deal with them on the 06.. You never know. Act like you're indifferent about letting the 06 sit there and 'eventually' ordering an 07.. Any good sales manager knows one concept, "Get the business TODAY".

Well I told them I was ready with the cash money in my hand. I offered them 14k...no go. I then offered 14.5k...still no go. I even went down to 15k....still they will not budge off of MSRP, which is $15,445. I couldn't believe they wouldn't even take 15k for the 06. They say they need to move them bad, but still won't budge on the price. What gives................

I bought a 06 Softail Standard that has FI, I love the bike but wish I would have got a carbed one. One of my riding buddies has a carbed 06 NT and it just sounds so good. FI bikes idle too high, sounds like the choke is on all the time. It does run good though.
I wouldn't quibble on the price too much if you really want it...you will go in to buy it and it will be gone and then you will regret losing it over a few hundred dollars. Its just money man, you will make more!

No matter what you decide to buy,I'd check other dealers because yours sucks.
I might be partial to '07 Nightrains, but I'd rather have an new '07 (mine's dead solid perfect) than put up with the humiliating BS your dealer is putting you through...

RE: Night Train...06 carb or 07
good luck on the 07.
i had the chance to get a 07 when i bought my 06 EFi night train. only reason i was holding out on the 06 was the fact that the 07 had the black denim paint.
figured i could just paint the 06 black denim down the road plus the 06 was $2700 cheaper than the 07.
as far as the FI goes, im absolutely loving the FI over the carb but to each his on.
