Default Wide Tire Upgrade on an 06 Deluxe

How wide has anyone successfully gone without any mods on their softail deluxe? I have an 06 and would love to go just a bit wider on the rear.

In my opinion, and thats all it is, I would not go fatter on the Deluxe. I think on some bikes it looks great (Train, V-Rod, and all the FX models) but on some bikes it will kill that old style look. Dont shoot me for saying this but the Fat Boy to me looks much better pre 200mm rear tire. Except for the 06 SE Fatty, which goes for the bold look and looks great with the fatty.

I like this question! I would also like to know how much bigger tire would fit if I was to replace the 200 tire with something bigger but im not interested in doing much if any mods. Oh and it would be on a 07 NT.

I have a 160 on the rear of my Softail Deluxe. I was told that you can't go much wider without any mods.....

Most bikes are made with that specific tire size in mind. I really doubt you will be able to do anything wider without any type of mods. like a swingarm and fender for starters. Go to http://www.heartlandbiker.com and give them a call and I'm sure they will be able to answer all your questions.

I beleive the Mezeler Tire website has a very detailed chart/description on tires and what modifications (if any) are needed for the various sizes.

i agree with ENZOTHEBAKER a wider tire on a deluxe would not do it jstice unless your bike looks like teeshore's he has the look that may be able to carry the wider tire but on a mostly stock deluxe i do not feel it would add anything worth while this is just my humbel opinion

What brand of 160 are you running? Is it a white wall? I would like to go at least to a 150 or preferably a 160 WW.

Metzler 160 blackwall, I am running 18x4.25 rear wheel. I will try to take some pictures this weekend and post them.

Cheers!
