Default ECM Failure new Crossbones

Last month when I started my trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway, I made it 20 miles and my new Bones (2,100 miles) started cutting out. First one cylinder would cut in and out and then it would quit all together. I limped the bike back to my selling dealer (13 miles) on one cylinder. After trying: 1) wiggle the wires ("you're all set now); 2) change the coil ("try it now, see you in two weeks"); 3) Change the ECM (made the NEW bike they took it out of run "poorly").

So the bottom line was that the ECM with 2,100 miles failed. Any one else have that problem?

18,000 miles and no problems. There's another guy posting here having odd issues too.

Anyway, hope you got it fixed...happy riding!

Mine has done the same thing to me. My 2009 started acting funny at 364 to 604 miles. So far my dealer has tightened up my chassis ground and it is running fine at the moment. I am keeping my fingers crossed, hoping i dont have to live through your whole scenerio there.

Stuff happens. They are, after all, just machines. Many times there is no rhyme or reason to why something goes bad on them. That's the only reason there is such a thing as a warranty.

Wife's Deluxe had issues with right fork leaking. Dealer couldn't figure out why. They just kept changing seals every week or two. 4 different techs took their turn each time. Finally it stopped leaking. Last guy must have gotten it right. 2 months and counting. I dunno.

Did you happen to have a powercommander installed when the ECM failed? I have a 2009 xbones that just had ECM failure and the HD dealer is blaming it on the powercommander.

Nope...... Pretty stock at the time, not any more. LOL

Picking the bike up from its 5000 mile service tonight. Next month I'll be putting on 5000 miles heading to Sturgis. Hope all is fine.

Wow stock and still had the problem. Wish I never put the PCV5 on my bike so that I would have all these issues.
