I picked it up at a motorcycle swap meet.

Twofish: I had completed the 3" lift kit with 3" risers on my '08 FXSTC with the mini apes.
It worked really well. Gave a great look - Clearance to motor, cleaning-cooling.
I didn't need to change out brake lines or lengthen throttle cables. The 3" lift went great. A 4" may push the cable length and add additional expenses. As far as the gap from the front. No problem, the standard leather console hid an unsightly bolts/clamps.
Do what you want and enjoy the ride!

I plan on cutting a piece of black foam to fill up the void.

I’ll post some photos later.

Please post pros, cons and photos on Softail tank lifts.
My Photos:

My comments:
2” tank lift – kept same stock crossover line.
I did it for the overall look of the bike. That alone made me happy.
I had a 2 inch lift on my Street Bob, it seem also to keep it cooler.

Whether it did or not there is more air getting around the motor.
I’ve not gone 90 yet but I don’t think it’s going to act like a wing
and take off.
I’m not concerned about how it affected gas gauges,
trip meter works for me.
Thanks to Schaub85 for the install.

I know this is an old post but I have questions as well on raising the tank 2 inches. I have drained the gas and have the bolts out but I'll be darned if I can get the tank to lift up. Is there something else I have to loosen on this 2008 Heritage?. I put a towel and a rubber handled hammer between the rocker covers and the tank and I could only lift it 3/4 to an inch making noises I didn't like. Thanks for any advice.

Probably just need to loosen the bolt that holds the bottom of the tank and lower dash (under the front of seat). If that is tight, I could see it limiting how much tank will move. Might also be your fuel crossover line being too short and hanging up on frame.
