I am new to Harley but I was told the other day that 2 into 1 Exhaust gives better performance over the 2 pipe ?

Yes, if you are going for power your best bet is going to be 2 into 1.

You can read up on this truth. More gains can be had if the 2:1 has the proper "collector" and is a stepped design, all things being equal. Look at the exhaust manifold of your car. Notice that on each side of a V engine or one one side of a straight engine all the cylinders' pipes merge into one? If it were better to have individual pipes, especially racers would never use headers.
