Default Back fire, how to check for intake leak

I have installed a set of screamin eagle slip-on Mufflers on My 2006 Fat -Boy (Fuel injected). Along with the pipes they down load the stage one kit and installed the bigger air cleaner. But the bike pops a lot (back fire)when i let of the throttle and it hesitate when i accelarate. My riding partner thinks that i have intake seal that is leaking. The shop is telling me that there is nothing wrong and just ride. Is there way easy way to rule out a intake seal that is leaking? Our does any one have a idea what my problem might be if any.

Probably not intake unless it leaked before the upgrade.

You are probably running lean because the download doesn't work so well on a lot of bikes. Some it works great on.

Might be time for a Power Commander or SERT.

Agree with rhubarb. You are running lean on deceleration.

Did he use new exhaust port gaskets with the new pipes? Could be a small leak there that would cause a carburated engine to backfire on deceleration. Just a thought.

First off who's they?
If they told you to just ride with hesitation when your rolling on the throttle I would not go back there. As far as the pop on decel,Its a very common problem when you change pipes and air cleaner. If they did the proper down load you should not be having any problems.I had same problem with popping and back fireing on decel till i installed pcIIIr.I downloaded spacific map for my set up and popping all but disappeared plus i get better throttle response. Going to have it on dyno in spring for custom map for best results. As far as an intake leak you would probably notice that overall the bike would not run right.Sounds to me like a map problem. and i agree with Rhubarb probably running lean.

To answer your other question. Check intake leaks by spraying wd40, carb cleaner or starting fluid around the intake manifold, if there is a leak the rpm will change.
