Default 5 speed, Mineral or Synthetic?

Mineral or Synthetic? I'm wondering about whether or not the extra cost of synthetic is worth it.

What do forum members here consider to be the best oil for a 5 speed?

Depends on what you mean by "worth it"?

Is synthetic better?...Absolutely, and plenty of research to back it up. It is "worth it" to me to pay about $8.50 for a quart of Amsoil 75w/90 Synthetic Oil for my transmission when it will out perform dino oil in all categories. Some will say that's too much for a quart of oil that's going in a motor cycle that can cost several thousand $$

Forget the Dino oils, modern synthetics are Soooooo much better its not even a fair comparison.
Pick one of the better ones like, Mobile 1, Amsoil, Belray, Royal Purple in 75W90 or if it gets really hot where you ride 90W140 and don't look back.
They are more expensive, but remember your not going to be changing it every 3000 miles so they are IMHO well worth it.

My Harley dealer doesn't sell it but he told me they were sent to classes on oil and Amsoil was the best and coolest running and as i said this from a Harley dealer that doesn't even sell it.

I run synthetic in two out of three holes. The primary won't see much benefit if any of synthetic but the other two certainly can. +1 for Amsoil here.
